Welcome to the web site of the "First International Conference on eGovernment and eGovernance" of TURKSAT (Turksat Satellite Communication Cable TV and Operation Inc.) organized by SoSReS (Social Sciences Research Society).  This major international event is going to be held in Ankara, Turkey between 12-13 March 2009.

 

Description and Aim

 

eGovernment  refers to the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to provide public goods and services to citizens. eGovernment involves simplifying and conducting processes relating to information, communications and transactions within and between governmental institutions, the public at large, and companies, by utilizing information and communication technologies (ICTs).

 

eGovernance is generally considered as a wider concept than eGovernment, since it can bring about a change in the way how citizens relate to governments and to each other. The objective eGovernance is to engage, enable and empower the citizen. eParticipation, eVoting, eTransparency, eAccountability are some of the dimensions eGovernance.

International Conference on eGovernment & eGovernance (IC-eGov) aims to provide a platform to leaders, bureaucrats, technocrats, researchers, practitioners and academics across the globe to present and discuss on their research findings, experiences, strategies, policies, technologies, case studies and best practices in the field of eGovernment and eGovernance.
